New Products and Valving Updates

The use of bump springs and softer main springs has been a big gain across the front suspension on Asphalt Sprint Cars. This combination makes the front end turn so much better than a single stiff spring that it allows you to reduce the rear stagger and increase the forward bite. This package works particularly well on short tracks where the corner transition is quick. The shocks valving is slightly different to accommodate this package, but they are the same length as the standard stiff spring shocks.

We have updated the valving in both the right and left rear shocks. The right rear base valve, piston, and valving curve have been modified. This update was done to handle the rough better and provide more traction. The left rear valve curve has also been updated to improve forward bite. The left rear shock is one of the most critical on the car. When valving a shock, you need to balance between ensuring it has enough rebound to keep the left rear tire driving and avoiding adding too much that would make the chassis tight in the middle of the corner.

 

SHOCK DYNO TESTING SERVICE

Now that the racing season is over, this is the ideal time to start preparing for next season. Many of our customers send all their shocks in to be dynoed at this time of the year so that they can be checked after a long season of racing. To urge all of our customers to check the condition of their shocks before next season, we are reducing the cost for shock dyno service on any A.R.S. shocks to $10 per shock until January 31, 2024. This reduced shock dyno offer will give you a chance to evaluate the condition of your shocks after a season of racing and, at the same time, review any new valving combinations. When sending your shocks to us for service, please enclose a note with your return address, phone number, and a brief description of what you would like done to your shocks or a shock maintenance form, which is available on our website. After your shocks are dynoed, we can call you with the results and discuss the outcome of your shocks or any new shock combinations. Many customers send all their shocks to us during this special dyno offer, so send your shocks in as early as possible to avoid any delays in preparing for the next season.

Left Front

There are a couple of things that need to be addressed in the left front shock dampening. The rebound holds cross weight in the chassis, which creates forward bite. Too much rebound pulls the tire off the ground and makes the chassis push mid-corner to exit. The rebound dampening requirements change on a short, tight corner track versus a fast, sweeping corner track. The compression on the left front is set for corner entry.

Right Front

The right front rebound controls the weight transfer to the rear tires. Now with the ability to generate more traction with the rear shocks, we can leave additional rebound in the right front shock. This makes the front end more responsive and more driver-friendly. Both front shocks now use the M2 pistons like the rear shocks. This piston allows the front tires to get through the irregularity of the race track.

Right Rear

We have invested significant effort in developing a better right rear shock. The right rear shocks have a new valve curve that creates more traction. By changing the balance of the piston to base valve flow, we have developed a great right rear shock. The rebound range allows you to soften the rebound enough to free the chassis up for qualifying on fresh tires, and then stiffen the rebound for maximum traction when the track gets slick and the tires start to lose grip. We lock in the compression dampening and then adjust the rebound dampening. Additionally, this shock is available in a double-adjustable model to adjust rebound and compression if desired. We recommend the canister on both rear shocks, as it provides more gas and oil volume resulting in the right rear tire creating more traction.

Left Rear  

The left rear shock is one of the most critical shocks on the car. When valving a shock, you need to balance between ensuring it has enough rebound to keep the left rear tire driving and avoiding adding too much that would make the chassis tight in the middle of the corner. This shock also contains the new valve curve that creates more traction than ever, because of that special valving curve. We build this shock with a 5-degree adjustment needle in order to fine tune the low-speed rebound. This keeps more left rear drive in the chassis while providing enough adjustment range for all track conditions. We recommend the canister on the left rear to provide more gas volume and create more traction. This shock is also available in a double-adjustable model to adjust rebound and compression.

Fronts

The 3200 Series shock is a small body mono-tube (gas) shock with a hard black anodized aluminum body. This shock uses CNC machined aluminum internal parts designed for racing with no aftermarket parts.  These shocks contain the latest T/C valving for maximum traction.  They come in either A or B-Model Cockpit Adjustable.  The base valve design in this shock allows for very low gas pressure to be used and still function properly.  This shock has a Schrader valve that will accept 10-100lbs. gas pressure which provides for fine tuning of the chassis balance.  The small body shock accepts 1 7/8”, 2 ¼” & 2 ½” I.D. Spring & is available in 5”, 6”, 7”, 8” & 9” shaft lengths.

Rears

The 3200 Series shock is a small body mono-tube (gas) shock with a hard black anodized aluminum body and canister. This shock uses CNC machined aluminum internal parts designed for racing with no aftermarket parts.  These shocks contain the latest T/C valving for maximum traction.  This shock comes in A or B-Model Cockpit Adjustable.  The base valve design in this shock allows for very low gas pressure to be used and still function properly.  When combined with our canister option and the ability to run low rod pressure this shock has virtually no rod pressure build up and allows for maximum grip a driver can feel.  This shock has a Schrader valve that will accept 10-100lbs. gas pressure which provides for fine tuning of the chassis balance.  The small body shock accepts 1 7/8”, 2 ¼” & 2 ½” I.D. Spring & is available in 5”, 6”, 7”, 8” & 9” shaft lengths.
